270 XT Awning Mk2

Description

The 270 XT Awning MK2  sets new benchmarks  for a free standing shade awning in terms of overall strength, wind resistance and durability.  The Awning provides an incredible 8sqm (86sqft) of shade around your 4WD for you to set up your camp kitchen, swags or just a shaded seating/chill out area.

The awning is 2.3m in length, weighs only 27.8Kg and can easily be set up by one person in about 30 seconds and the pack down is just as simple.

The awning is available in either a Left Hand Side (passenger side in Australia)  or Right Hand Side (driver’s side in Australia) configuration, please select which version you require from the drop down menu below.

Fitting the Awning MK2.

There are 2 Heavy Duty L brackets supplied with the Awning. One fitment bracket must be attached to the stainless steel mounting plate at the hinged end of the awning no more than 200mm (7 ⁷/₈inch) from the hinged end, The second bracket must be mounted no less than 1.3m (4′ 3″) from the bracket at the hinged end.  To mount the awning to one of our rooftop tents you will need an Awning To Tent bracket which are sold separately.

270 XT Awning Mk2 – Overview

The canvas on the 270 XT Awning Mk2 is a 315gsm polyester rip-stop canvas that is mould and mildew resistant, The canvas is The Bush Company’s traditional olive green colour, and it is pre-treated during manufacture for water resistance.

The Awning bag is  460gsm polyester rip-stop canvas with YKK Zippers.  In contrast to PVC covers, the canvas allows the awning to breath while keeping it dust/dirt free and moisture is able to wick out through the zipper reducing the risk of mould or mildew.  The rip-stop material on the bag also reduces the risk of large running tears in the bag as a result of contact with tree branches.

The frame of the Awning is made from an extruded alloy composite which has been specifically designed to provide the elasticity, strength and durability we required.  The main bracket for the hinge is constructed from stainless steel providing huge strength.  The arms on the awning have been gusseted for additional strength, which enables the awning to be fully free standing without any poles in even strong wind conditions.  We do not supply poles for the awning as it does not need them, but we do supply guy ropes and pegs for use in extreme wind conditions to prevent damage to your roof rack or vehicle.  The guy ropes attach to heavy duty webbing loops that are incorporated into the ends of the arms and also midway along each canvas section.  In conjunction with the natural rake of the awning, the guy ropes should be used to prevent pooling of water on the canvas and to guide water runoff in preferred places. We do not recommend leaving the awning up unattended during snowfall due to risk of canvas stretching as a result of excessive weight.

Frame Construction:

• Heavy-duty stainless steel hinge.
• The frame is reinforced with gusseted arms for superior strength and durability, without needing poles.
• Engineered with our proprietary B-Tech™ Alloy, extruded for superior durability and unique elasticity.

Canvas:

• 310gsm/11.3oz poly-cotton rip-stop in olive green.
• Mould, mildew, and water-resistant.
• Triple reinforcement at attachment points and triple-stitched sleeves for the arms.
• Easily repairable or replaceable if punctured, for lasting use.

Inclusions & Usage:

• Heavy-duty PVC awning bag generously sized for easier packing, UV and heat-stabilized to resist wear and tear.
• 2 Heavy Duty Adjustable L Brackets. One fitment bracket must be attached to the stainless steel head stock at the hinged end of the awning. The second bracket must be mounted no less than 1.3m /4′ 3″ from the bracket at the hinged end.
• It is recommended that the rear non trussed arm is secured using the included guy ropes and pegs to prevent excessive upward movement in all weather conditions.
• Use guy ropes attached to 1-tonne webbing straps between the awning arms to manage water runoff and prevent pooling in heavy rain.
• Avoid leaving up during snowfall to prevent canvas stretching.

Optional Accessories:

• 270 XT Freestanding Awning Wall Kit or universal solid or mesh wall can be attached to 50mm thick triple-stitched Genuine Velcro strip on the inside edge of the awning.
